SERENDIPITY, AND A PATH TO FOLLOW

Our name joins serendipity with path: the discoveries that come from walking slowly, in the right place, with someone who knows what to look for.

WHO WE ARE

NATURALISTS AND RESEARCHERS WHO HAPPEN TO RUN TREKS

Serendipath was formed by field naturalists and researchers who spent years working across different landscape of Sri Lanka. We design walks the way we would plan our own field days: around habitat, weather and season rather than a checklist of sights.

A day with us is likely to cover  far more than you expect. We stop for a flock, for a frog on a leaf, for the way a stream reorganises the forest floor. Interpretation is the point — you should leave understanding a landscape, not just having crossed it.

THE PERSON BEHIND SERENDIPATH

DULAN VIDANAPATHIRANA

Founder | Naturalist | Field Researcher | Nature Guide

With nearly two decades of experience in natural-history research and more than a decade of guiding experience, Dulan has developed a particular passion for Sri Lanka’s wildlife. His field experience has also contributed to scientific research and conservation work across the island.

Dulan has been involved in numerous research projects and scientific publications, including collaborative work documenting species new to science.

His approach to exploring Sri Lanka goes beyond simply visiting beautiful places. He believes that a trail becomes more meaningful when we understand the landscape, recognise the wildlife around us and appreciate the connections between people, nature and place.

That philosophy is at the heart of Serendipath — to walk further, look closer and discover Sri Lanka through its living landscapes
